Pawan Khera Moves Telangana HC for Anticipatory Bail in Assam Case

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera has approached the Telangana High Court seeking anticipatory bail in a case filed by Assam Police over his remarks about Riniki Bhuyan, wife of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The FIR, registered on April 5 at Guwahati Crime Branch, invokes provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including defamation, forgery, cheating, criminal intimidation, and conspiracy.

Khera argued he has not received a copy of the FIR and said custodial interrogation is unnecessary, seeking protection from arrest. The case stems from his allegations made in New Delhi regarding Bhuyan’s foreign links and undisclosed assets.

Assam Police have termed the claims false and defamatory, while leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party called the remarks baseless and malicious.
