Gaurav Gogoi Raises Concern Over Women’s Safety in Assam

APCC chief and Jorhat MP Gaurav Gogoi on Monday expressed concern over women’s safety in Assam ahead of the BJP-led NDA government’s swearing-in ceremony. He said the government must fulfil people’s expectations and ensure better security for women in the state.

Gogoi also urged Assam Police to focus on public safety instead of acting as “agents of the BJP.” His remarks came amid rising concerns over crimes against women, with official data showing hundreds of rape, harassment and domestic violence cases reported in Assam during 2024.
