Electricity Consumers’ Body Opposes Power Tariff Hike in Assam

The All Assam Electricity Consumers Association (AAECA) has strongly opposed the recent increase in the Fuel and Power Purchase Price Adjustment (FPPPA) surcharge from 16 paise to 28 paise per unit, calling it unjustified and anti-consumer.

The association said the hike would place an additional burden on consumers already facing rising living costs. It also questioned why Assam is increasing electricity charges when several other states provide free power benefits to households.

AAECA has demanded the immediate withdrawal of the surcharge hike and urged consumers across the state to unite in protest against the decision.
