Four of a Family Killed in Devastating Fire at Guwahati’s Jalukbari

A massive fire that broke out around 2 a.m. on Friday at West Jaymati Nagar in Guwahati’s Jalukbari area claimed the lives of four family members and destroyed several homes.

The deceased were identified as Kuddus Ali, Kajoli Begum, Haru Babu and Dangar Babu, tenants originally from Goalpara. The blaze reportedly started from a stove in a nearby hotel and spread rapidly through electrical wiring, engulfing at least 11 rented rooms and two residential buildings.

Firefighters, police, SDRF and NDRF teams rushed to the spot, but the four victims could not be rescued. An investigation into the incident is underway.
