Debabrata Saikia Urges PM Modi to Set Up Regional Recruitment Centre in Guwahati

Senior Congress leader Debabrata Saikia has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking urgent measures to tackle unemployment in the Northeast. He has proposed the establishment of a dedicated Regional Recruitment Centre in Guwahati for Central Government departments, PSUs and public sector banks.

Citing high unemployment rates in Assam, Saikia said the current recruitment system forces candidates to travel to distant cities for examinations, increasing costs and reducing opportunities for local youth. He urged the Centre to allocate Rs 500 crore for setting up the facility within six months.
