Assam to Make Driving Tests Mandatory for Licence Applicants

Guwahati, Assam: The Assam Transport Department will soon introduce a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) making driving tests compulsory for all driving licence applicants and restricting applications to their home districts. Transport Minister Charan Boro said the move aims to prevent irregularities in licence issuance and improve road safety. The government also plans to establish dedicated driving test tracks at every District Transport Office to ensure only qualified drivers receive licences.
