Assam Small Tea Growers to Receive Farmer IDs, Govt Benefits

Guwahati: The Assam government has included tea and plantation land in the Farmers’ Registry Portal, allowing small tea growers to obtain Farmer IDs. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the initiative will help growers access fertilisers, government schemes, institutional credit and other benefits through a single platform while reducing the role of middlemen. Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika said the move will strengthen support for the state’s small tea growers.
