Assam Reaffirms Target of 10 Lakh Litres Daily Milk Production

Guwahati, Assam: The Assam government has reaffirmed its goal of producing 10 lakh litres of milk per day to achieve dairy self-sufficiency and strengthen rural livelihoods. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said over 25,000 dairy farmers are receiving subsidies to improve productivity and adopt modern dairy practices.
The government is also expanding milk cooperatives and developing dairy infrastructure, including a proposed Rs 200 crore dairy plant at Mariani, to boost local milk production, reduce dependence on imports, and create sustainable employment opportunities in rural Assam.
