Assam Floods: 98 Dead, Over 1.55 Lakh Still Affected

Guwahati: Assam’s flood situation remained serious on Friday, with 13 districts affected and the death toll rising to 98, according to ASDMA.

Around 1.55 lakh people remain affected across 33 revenue circles and 464 villages. Golaghat is the worst-hit district, followed by Sivasagar and Jorhat.

Authorities are operating 55 relief camps sheltering over 10,000 people, along with 18 relief distribution centres. The Dhansiri and Kushiyara rivers continue to flow above danger levels at several locations.

The floods have also submerged around 10,748 hectares of farmland and affected more than 47,000 animals, besides damaging houses and infrastructure.
