IMD to Install 11 New Weather Radars Across Northeast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) plans to install 11 new Doppler weather radars across the Northeast to improve weather monitoring and forecast accuracy.
The region currently has three Doppler radars at Sohra, Mohanbari and Agartala, all of which are more than 15 years old.
The expanded radar network is expected to provide wider and more timely weather coverage across the region, particularly in areas with limited observation facilities.
