Guwahati: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held discussions on Thursday following the recent violence in Shillong and its impact on commuters and residents of both states. The two leaders agreed to work together to restore peace and normalcy.
Sangma said designated Cabinet Ministers from both states would hold further discussions, while Sarma asked Assam’s Border Protection Minister Atul Bora to coordinate with Meghalaya authorities. Both Chief Ministers appealed for peace and restraint, stressing the longstanding ties between Assam and Meghalaya.
