Assam Rifles Conducts Organ Donation Awareness Session in Manipur

Thoubal, Manipur, August 22: Assam Rifles has conducted an organ donation awareness session at Phundrei in Manipur’s Thoubal district, sensitising personnel about the life-saving importance of organ donation and the procedures involved in voluntary organ pledging.

According to a post shared by the Assam Rifles, the programme was held on August 21 and attended by more than 50 personnel. The session was conducted by an Assam Rifles Medical Officer and covered key aspects of organ donation, including eligibility, procedures, relevant legal provisions, the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO), Green Corridors and online registration.

The interactive session also encouraged personnel to consider voluntary organ donation. Assam Rifles said one participant expressed willingness to pledge organs through the NOTTO portal, reflecting the spirit of service and humanitarian responsibility.

The awareness initiative comes amid continuing efforts across India to promote organ donation and improve public understanding of the process, which can help save or transform the lives of patients requiring organ transplants.
