Ajmal Slams Assam Government Over Rising Prices

GUWAHATI: AIUDF president and Binnakandi MLA Maulana Badruddin Ajmal has criticised the Assam government over rising prices of essential commodities, alleging that it has failed to effectively regulate the market. He claimed that the price rise has placed a heavy burden on ordinary families, daily-wage workers and economically weaker sections.
Ajmal also pointed to differences between wholesale and retail prices, alleging that farmers were not receiving fair returns while consumers were paying higher rates. Expressing concern over the rising prices of eggs, onions, pulses, rice, edible oil and sugar, he questioned why stronger steps had not been taken to control the market.
