NFR Converts 12 More Train Services to Electric Traction

Guwahati: Northeast Frontier Railway converted 12 more train services from diesel to electric traction effective October 16, bringing this financial year’s total to 30. These include services of the Lachit Express and Guwahati-Ledo Intercity Express.

According to NFR estimates, the move will save around 98.55 lakh litres of diesel and ₹140 crore annually, while cutting carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 26,411 tonnes. Fewer locomotive changes are also expected to reduce journey times and improve punctuality.
