A staged protest by the All Guwahati Tourist Taxi Drivers’ Union

The Shillong taxi stand in Khanapara witnessed a protest by the All Guwahati Tourist Taxi Drivers’ Union against the middleman’s illicit money collection.

150 taxi drivers who operate for tourists participated in the protest. According to the union, they provide our means of subsistence by transporting people to and from Meghalaya. Every time a tourist taxi is cabbed, some middlemen take between Rs 300 and Rs 400 by force.
