AASU and Tribal Groups Demand Constitutional Safeguards for Indigenous People

AASU leaders and representatives from 30 tribal organizations met to discuss the Justice (Retired) Biplab Kumar Sarma-led committee’s report. The meeting, chaired by AASU president Utpal Sarma, emphasized the need for constitutional safeguards for Assam’s indigenous people and urged the Union and State governments to implement the report’s recommendations.

AASU chief advisor Dr. Samujjal Bhattacharya detailed the report and its relevance to the Assam Accord. Key leaders, including Aditya Khakhlari and Dipen Bodo, initiated discussions on actionable steps.
