AJP, Civil Groups Slam Assam Govt Over Evictions, Alleging Corporate Land Grab

AJP and Assam Citizens’ Society have accused the Assam government of using eviction drives to mask land transfers to corporates. AJP leader Jagadish Bhuyan claimed 55,000 bighas, including 49,000 of indigenous land, were being given to companies like Adani under Advantage Assam 2. MP Ajit Bhuyan called the evictions a “humanitarian crisis” targeting landless Muslims. Activists also demanded transparency in the Basundhara land scheme and warned of political fallout ahead of the 2026 elections.
