Ancient Ahom ‘Moidams’ Considered for World Heritage List

The 700-year-old ‘Moidams’ of Assam’s Ahom dynasty will be considered for the World Heritage List at the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) in New Delhi from July 21 to 31. If selected, the ‘Moidams’ will be the first cultural site from India’s northeast to gain this status. These pyramid-like burial mounds hold significant historical value. The session, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will gather global culture ministers and stakeholders to discuss heritage preservation. India, currently with 44 World Heritage Sites, aims to highlight the cultural richness of its northeastern region through this nomination.
