Assam By-Elections Heat Up: Key Contests and Political Dynamics Unfold

With the announcement of bypolls for five Lok Sabha seats in Assam, the state’s electoral landscape is witnessing intensified campaigning and tough competition. Nagaon, Darrang-Udalguri, Diphu (ST), Silchar (SC), and Karimganj districts are the focal points of this electoral showdown, with prominent personalities vying for parliamentary seats.

Key battles include Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi challenging BJP’s Suresh Bora and AIUDF’s Aminul Islam in Nagaon, and BJP MP Kripanath Mallah defending his seat in Karimganj against Congress candidate Hafiz Ahmed Chaudhry and AIUDF’s Sahbul Islam Chaudhry. Meanwhile, Silchar (SC) presents an intriguing contest with Assam Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya facing Congress youth leader Suraj Kant Sarkar.

With 38 candidates filing nominations in the first phase across various constituencies, the electoral fervor is palpable.
