Assam CM Sarma Forecasts Demographic Shift in Congress, BJP Gears Up for Elections
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a scathing critique of the Congress party, predicting a significant demographic shift within its ranks ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. During a visit to the state BJP headquarters in Guwahati, Sarma announced the defection of three Congress members to the BJP, with more expected to follow suit. He confidently asserted that Hindus would no longer be part of the Assam Congress by 2026, and nearly all Muslims would depart by 2032. Sarma emphasized the BJP’s readiness for the polls and expressed optimism about winning 105 out of 126 assembly constituencies. He also highlighted efforts to address societal issues and dismissed attempts to tarnish his image, citing key defections from the Congress camp as evidence of waning confidence in their electoral prospects.
