Assam Employee announce widespread unrest starting on January 20: National Pension System

The All Assam Government NPS Employees Association (AAGNPSEA), which is calling for the reinstatement of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and the cancellation of the National Pension System (NPS), has declared a mass agitation to take place from January 20 to January 31.

The association met with the chief minister on August 1, 2023, and according to AAGNPSEA president Achyutananda Hazarika, the CM responded favourably, giving the association hope that the NPS will be cancelled and the OPS will be restored. However, the association is extremely disappointed that neither the state nor the federal government has taken any action to date.
