Assam Government Launches Online RTI Portal

The Assam government has launched an online RTI portal (https://rtionline.assam.gov.in) with technical support from NIC, Assam. The portal includes details of SPIOs and appellate authorities from various state departments, with provisions for updates.

This initiative follows RTI activist Rohit Choudhury’s year-long effort to ensure compliance with the Supreme Court’s August 2023 directive, emphasizing proactive disclosure under Section 4 of the RTI Act. The Assam State Information Commission has also directed public authorities to adhere to this mandate.
