Assam Government looking at shifting wholesale market from Fancy Bazar

The state government intends to move the wholesale markets from the centre of Guwahati to a new location in an effort to relieve traffic. As part of a local area plan to relieve traffic in the city, Ashok Singhal, the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, made a suggestion about moving the market outside of the city. The minister stated that the GMDA has been tasked with finding a different location, and Baihata, Palashbari, North Guwahati, and Changsari are some potential options. However, the new location has not yet been decided.
