Assam Targets Over 68 Lakh Households for Piped Water Under Jal Jeevan Mission

The Assam government aims to connect 68,10,470 households with piped water under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). So far, 56 lakh households have been connected, with the central government allocating Rs 175436.82 crore for the initiative. The mission, under the Ministry of Jalshakti, seeks to provide safe drinking water to every rural household. Despite progress, there are allegations that some connected taps are not supplying water. The state government is working with the Centre to cover the remaining households.
