Assam to reserve 2% of govt jobs in grade 1&2 for ex-servicemen

The Assam government has decided to reserve two percent seats in the grade one and two in government jobs for ex-army personnel.

The state cabinet meeting at Gandhi Mandap in Guwahati on Wednesday decided that policemen who lost lives since 1985 in the line of duty, the family members of those deceased will get the jobs. Around 400 posts will be created in this segment.

The government has decided to set up 162 new police stations with the 525 Crore. “Ex-service men of the army will get two percent reservation in grade one and two of the state government jobs.

The cabinet decided to provide new ration cards to 4 million more beneficiaries across the state making them eligible for several government schemes including free rice every month.

“With this move nearly 30,000 more persons in each of the state’s 126 assembly seats (or nearly 6,000 families in each constituency) will get ration cards,” Sarma disclosed.
