Assam to Withhold Salaries of Teachers with Zero Attendance

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced that the education department will withhold the salaries of teachers with zero attendance on the Shiksha Setu Portal, except for those on approved leave or duty. An inquiry is underway to investigate the 4,907 teachers statewide with zero attendance, with Tinsukia district having the highest number at 424. Additional District Commissioners (Education) and Inspectors of Schools have been directed to verify the teachers’ presence and report their findings by July 5, 2024.
