CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Honors Martyrs of Assam Agitation, Emphasizes State Development

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid tribute to the martyrs of the Assam Agitation at Jamugurihat in Sonitpur today, marking Swahid Divas. He highlighted the sacrifices made by over 800 individuals who fought to protect Assam’s honor. The CM emphasized the government’s efforts to preserve the state’s identity, tackle encroachment, and address illegal migration.

Sarma also praised the state’s efforts in safeguarding land rights, citing successful evictions of illegal settlers from areas like Gorukhuti and Kaziranga. He honored Khargeswar Talukdar, the first martyr, and mentioned various initiatives like the 125-foot statue of Vir Lachit Borphukan and UNESCO recognition of Charideo Moidam. The CM urged youth to learn from Israel’s self-reliance and contribute to Assam’s progress.
