Congress Leader Rakibul Hussain Files FIR Against 22 After Attack in Rupahihaat

Senior Congress leader Rakibul Hussain filed an FIR against 22 individuals at Nagaon Sadar Police Station following an attack by miscreants in Rupahihaat. Hussain alleged the involvement of the Superintendent of Police, claiming BJP’s fear of Congress ahead of the 2026 elections.

Protests erupted at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati, with Congress leaders demanding Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s resignation. Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress president Mira Borthakur Goswami also condemned the attack.

Chief Minister Sarma confirmed that the police identified the suspects, including individuals from Jamtola, Fakoli, Tamulitup, and other areas. Protests have spread across the state.
