Gauhati High Court Grants Final Chance in AAITWU Petition

The Gauhati High Court granted the state respondents three weeks to file their affidavit in opposition regarding WP(C)/2798/2019, filed by the All Assam Inland Water Transport Workers’ Union.

The petition challenges the validity of the Assam Inland Water Transport Regulations, 2018, particularly Section 14(1)(k). Despite the case pending for five years, no affidavit has been filed by the respondents.

The court scheduled the next hearing for the first week of January 2025.
