Guwahati’s New Flyover Aims to Ease Traffic, Residents Concerned About Flooding

Guwahati is set to add another flyover at Rukminigaon to alleviate traffic congestion and tackle artificial flooding. The Public Works Department has begun soil testing, but local residents, like contractor Nabajyoti Das, express concerns that the construction could worsen water-logging and air pollution. Urban flooding remains a major issue in the area, prompting legal scrutiny. The government plans to sign an MoU with Haskoning DHV Consulting Pvt. Ltd., a Dutch firm, to address flooding concerns. The High Court will review departmental measures on August 27.
