Hailakandi Shuts Down on April 8 Over Rail Connectivity Demand
Twenty-two organizations, led by the Nagarik Adhikar Suraksha Samiti (NASS), have called a 12-hour bandh in Hailakandi district on April 8, demanding a direct train from Guwahati to Mizoram via Hailakandi.
NASS leaders expressed frustration over the lack of progress despite memorandums, hunger strikes, and protests. They criticized local MLAs and MPs for ignoring the issue, which affects over seven lakh people in Hailakandi and the entire state of Mizoram.
The bandh aims to push authorities to address the district’s long-standing rail connectivity issues.
