Manual Attendance Approved for Schools with Poor Internet Connectivity
The Education Department has allowed manual attendance for schools in regions without internet connectivity due to difficulties with the Shiksha Setu App. This decision follows complaints from students and teachers about the challenges of online attendance in areas with poor internet access.
Reports indicate that 269 schools across eight districts—Cachar, Dima Hasao, Goalpara, Kamrup (M), Kamrup, Karbi Anglong, Kokrajhar, and Sonitpur—lack internet connectivity. Initially, the department mandated online attendance through the Shiksha Setu App starting April 1, 2024, but poor internet infrastructure caused significant issues.
In response, the department conducted a survey and identified the affected schools. Samagra Shiksha Axom (SSA) then issued a letter allowing these schools to maintain manual attendance records until reliable internet services are provided. This temporary measure aims to ensure uninterrupted education and accurate attendance records. The decision impacts 2,595 students across the identified schools.
