Meghalaya Floods Claim 17 Lives in Garo Hills

The death toll in the Garo Hills floods has risen to 17, including two children. The victims, aged 8 and 3, drowned after falling into a water-filled pit in North Garo Hills. Landslides and flash floods have impacted over 4,900 residents across 54 villages since October 4. Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will visit the affected areas on October 8 to assess damages and meet families of the deceased. The State and National Disaster Response Forces are actively conducting relief and rescue operations.
