Mobile Medical Units Rolled Out to Strengthen Rural Healthcare in Kamrup

Palasbari: In a significant move to enhance rural healthcare access, District Commissioner of Kamrup, Deba Kumar Mishra, inaugurated three Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) today at the ITC ICML Guwahati factory premises in Kukurmara.

Each MMU is staffed with a qualified MBBS doctor, a staff nurse, a pharmacist, and a community mobiliser. These mobile clinics aim to deliver essential doorstep healthcare services to underserved communities in the blocks of Palasbari, Boko, and Chaygaon.

The MMUs will provide free medical consultations, distribute essential medicines, conduct basic diagnostic tests, and refer patients requiring advanced care to appropriate healthcare facilities. Special focus will be given to geriatric care and the health of pregnant and lactating women.

During the launch, DC Mishra highlighted the importance of such initiatives in narrowing the healthcare gap in remote areas. The event was also attended by Dr. Ajit Das, Joint Director of Health Services, Kamrup (Rural), and key representatives from ITC ICML, including Keshav Chadha (Factory Manager), Rupam Talukdar (Manager, Human Resources), Ravi Bansal (Senior Manager, Rural Health), and Sayan Majee from MSK, North East.

This public-private collaboration reinforces a strong commitment to community welfare and the ongoing development of rural healthcare infrastructure.
