Violent Clash Erupts in Assam’s Nilambazar; Multiple Injuries Reported

A tense situation unfolded in Nilambazar, Karimganj district, near the India-Bangladesh border, as a firing incident erupted between two rival groups in the Balia-Ashanala village. Several individuals, including women and children, sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Nilambazar Primary Health Centre before being referred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. The injured have been identified as Abul Kalam, Hasan Ahmed, Mushtaq Ahmed, and Safiya Begum. Preliminary reports suggest a longstanding dispute between residents of Ashanala village, resulting in allegations against Hasan Ahmed for firing shots. Police, led by Deep Jyoti Malakar, officer-in-charge of Nilambazar Police Station, have launched an investigation and seized air guns from the village to prevent further violence.
