2 Youths assaulted a Doctor in Assam, suffers injuries

A doctor was critically injured after being assaulted by two youths at his residence in Dibrugarh on Monday evening. However, no arrests have been made yet.

Gitartha Saikia, a resident of Boiragimoth area of Dibrugarh, suffered severe injuries to his head and legs, while one of his ears was partially torn off. He is undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Saikia was a medical officer at a hospital in Majuli district under the one-year compulsory rural posting after completing his MBBS degree. Based on the complaint of his parents an FIR was lodged.
