Assam Agricultural University Develops New Mustard Greens and Chilli Varieties
Scientists from Assam Agricultural University in Jorhat have developed three new vegetable varieties: two mustard greens, “Kajali” and “Laika,” and a chilli variety named “Prabali.”
Laika is a green mustard variant, while Kajali has a unique black color. Both yield 400-450 quintals per hectare in 85-90 days. Prabali chilli offers a high spice level with a lower yield of 120-130 quintals per hectare. These varieties promise high productivity and nutritional value, benefiting Assam’s farmers commercially.
