Four Arrested in Tinsukia Over Alleged Extortion, ULFA-I Links

All Assam Students’ Union leader Samar Gohain and three others were arrested by Assam Police in Tinsukia over alleged extortion activities and suspected links with banned militant outfit ULFA-I.

Police registered two cases under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, UA(P) Act, Arms Act, and Explosive Substances Act. Investigators said preliminary evidence of militant links emerged during the probe.

The accused were produced before court, and three were sent to police remand for further interrogation. Assam Police also conducted an operation in Maharashtra and detained another suspect linked to the case.
