Assam Authorities Intensify Eviction Drives Against Illegal Settlers

District authorities in Assam conducted eviction drives at two locations on Friday. In a joint operation with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Kamrup metropolitan officials cleared illegal encroachments along an 11-kilometer stretch of National Highway 27 between Jorabat and Byrnihat. The drive targeted businesses that had set up along drains, contributing to artificial flooding.

Meanwhile, in Hajo, Kamrup district administration evicted illegal settlers from 123 bighas of grazing land at Dakshin Singra village. The settlers had dug artificial ponds and built houses on the encroached land.
