Assam Government Sends Officers to Sikkim for Student Evacuation

The Assam government has moved quickly to send senior officers to flood-ravaged Sikkim to oversee the safe evacuation of Assam students who are currently stranded there. A total of 160 Assam students are said to be trapped in Sikkim due to the flooding.

According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, “due to the situation in Sikkim, we have dispatched two senior officers to oversee the evacuation of our 160 students from Rongpo and Majitar as soon as possible.”
