Assam Government Withdraws Notice on PRC Requirement for Academic Positions

The Assam Government has announced the withdrawal of a notice issued by the Director of Higher Education (DHE) regarding the Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC) without state government approval. The DHE’s notification, issued on July 10, stated that the PRC was not mandatory for appointments of Assistant Professors, Librarians, and Grade III and Grade IV posts in various colleges in Assam, including PDUAM and GMC.

This led to significant backlash, prompting Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu to intervene. He clarified on X that the notice was issued without government approval and instructed the DHE to withdraw it immediately.
