Assam Opposition Leader Urges Action Against Alleged Encroachment by Nagaland

Debabrata Saikia, Leader of Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly, has called for intervention from the Chief Secretary and the DGP of Assam regarding the alleged construction of houses by people from Nagaland on Assam land in Seujpur village, Sivasagar district.

In letters to both officials, Saikia cited news reports of the encroachment and emphasized that Seujpur, located along the Nagaland border within the Nazira Legislative Constituency, lacks direct communication with Nagaland. He noted that construction materials are being sent through Chantak Tea Estate in Assam. Saikia urged the Assam administration to prevent further construction.

Additionally, Saikia demanded action against an alleged nexus between the Nagaland administration and a local stone and sand syndicate in Aigurijan. He also called for the establishment of the long-proposed Bihubor Border Outpost, approved a decade ago but still not implemented.
