BJP Corrects Constituency Names After Backlash in Assam Candidate List

In response to the criticism regarding inaccuracies in the names of constituencies, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has rectified the errors in their list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Assam. The revised list acknowledges the correction, stating, “The number and name of the parliamentary constituency have been corrected in the list of candidates for Assam state.” The initial list had incorrectly labeled the Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency as reserved and Silchar as unreserved. The correction aligns with the post-delimitation status, where Silchar is the reserved constituency for the Scheduled Caste, while Karimganj remains unreserved.
