Displaced Buffalo from Kaziranga Causes Havoc in Tezpur; Successfully Relocated
A wild buffalo, displaced from Kaziranga National Park by recent floods, caused chaos in Tezpur’s municipal area starting July 1, injuring several people. The buffalo attacked residents in Kumar village, injuring Dukhi Manjhi, Nibha Sarkar, and Bimal Das on July 3. The next night, a wild elephant also attacked Bobbin Saikia, Mridul Bordoloi, and Vikramaditya Kalita in the same village. On July 5, three more individuals were injured by the buffalo. On July 6, Dr. Pranab Das, a senior veterinarian, tranquillized the buffalo, which was then relocated to Laokhowa Sanctuary by the forest department and local police. This incident underscores the impact of floods on wildlife and human habitats, highlighting the need for quick action to mitigate such conflicts.
