Education Ministry Gets Record ₹1.39 Lakh Crore Allocation

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Education has received a record allocation of ₹1,39,289.48 crore for FY 2026–27, marking an 8.27% increase over the previous Budget Estimate. The Department of School Education and Literacy has received ₹83,562 crore, its highest-ever allocation, while ₹55,727.22 crore has been earmarked for higher education.

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu welcomed the increased allocation and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, saying the enhanced funding reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening education and empowering young people.
