In Assam, the Akam Foundation launched a queer helpline number.
The Akam Foundation, a well-known Assam feminist group, has launched a queer helpline for the LGBTQIA++ community that offers peer support, referrals, and connections. The event was arranged at the Chandraprabha Saikiani Feminist Library and Resource Centre in Dibrugarh. Rituparna Neog, the Associate Vice Chairperson of the Assam Transgender Welfare Board and Director of the Akam Foundation, introduced the helpline number by highlighting its importance in the state of Assam.
In addition to community members, writers Juri Bora Boragohain and Dr. Amrita Pritam Gogoi, assistant professor at Dibrugarh University, attended the launch programme.
