Independent Candidate Abu Sama Arrested for Sexual Harassment and Blackmail in Nagaon

Abu Sama, an independent candidate in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls for the Nagaon parliamentary constituency, was arrested on Saturday evening on charges of sexual harassment, blackmail, and extortion. The arrest followed an FIR filed by a female victim from Juria, who accused Sama of extorting several lakhs of rupees from her under threats.

Sama, who was running an illegal pharmacy at Juria Bazar, allegedly made a sexual video with the victim viral on social media. He reportedly injected the victim with medicine during a medical visit, filmed her in an unconscious state, and used the footage to continue blackmailing her.

Sama was arrested by Juria police, produced in court, and sent to judicial custody. Additionally, two digital media scribes, Saddam Hussain and Khairul Islam, were arrested for blackmailing and extortion related to the same incident. They allegedly demanded money from Sama to suppress news about his misconduct, which had surfaced a few days prior.
