Istanbul welcomes more than 300 athletes for second Global Esports Games

The sporting programme has been increased to four as the Global Esports Games heads here to Istanbul for its second edition with events scheduled from tomorrow until Saturday (December 17).

More than 300 athletes from 65 nations and territories are set to descend upon the Hilton Istanbul Bomonti in a bid to win the titles on offer.

Competition is scheduled to run on December 16 and 17 with semi-finals taking place initially before finals on the last day which are due to be held in a 1,500-seat custom-built arena.

Bookending all the gaming action will be Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Prior to the tournaments, GEFcon – named after organisers, the Global Esports Federation (GEF) – is due to take place.
