Massive Explosion Hits OIL Well in Tinsukia, Triggers Panic

An enormous explosion rocked OIL’s X-Mass Tree of well no BGN 24 at Dighaltarang Tea Estate in Tinsukia district, causing widespread panic among local tea garden workers. The incident, occurring at midnight on Tuesday, resulted in the discharge of gas and crude oil. Upon inspection by Oil personnel, a hole was discovered on the flowing path from the X-mass tree. Although the leak was eventually controlled, gas and crude oil had already spread out over an area of 100 meters from the well site. The impact of the explosion surpassed that of the Baghjan blowout in May 2020. OIL has formed an on-spot assessment team and initiated an internal inquiry to determine whether the incident stemmed from technical error or human negligence.
