Meghalaya Ri Bhoi villages declared containment zone

The Ri Bhoi District Magistrate has declared four villages – Umsawriang, Madan Nonglakhiat, Mawlyngkhung, and Syllei-U-Lar – as containment zone following reports of deaths of pigs. There have also been suspected cases of swine flu in certain villages in the district.

The Ri Bhoi district magistrate clamped Section 144 Cr PC on the recommendation of the District AH &Vety Officer with effect from May 16, 2023, to contain the disease within the mentioned areas so as to enable the veterinary department to trace and search for the cases.
